About Peter Jenks
Peter Jenks is an extremely talented woodworker who has been developing his craft successfully over the last 35 years.
Every project, whether it be a set of replacement sliding sash windows or a mahogany alcove cupboard required to look elegant and eye catching yet using the space for maximum display and storage, is taken on as an individual project to be carried out with the same dedication to the fine arts of traditional craftsmanship.
Traditional joints are used in all areas where necessary and hand cut when exposed i.e. dovetails to drawer sides. On the other side modern technology is taken advantage of where required in the use of such items as hidden door hinges and soft slide, self closing drawer runners or full draught proofing to doors and windows.
Where there is a natural wood finish required one of the major priorities is the selection of the timber boards for their pattern and grain effect. The bookmatching of boards for door panels and the harmonious matching of boards to be joined for worktops being used to great effect.
Veneered manmade boards are often used on large plain areas and once again utilising the natural beauty of any timber is of first consideration.
Finishes range from hand applied Danish oil and beeswax or cloth applied varnish to shop sprayed laquer, clear or coloured.
Joinery items can be primed ready for painting or painted to your needs in the shop.
On contacting Peter he will arrange a visit to your convenience and after going over with you your individual requirements will present you with an approximate overall costing followed by accurate scale drawings and a final price.
The photographs on the previous pages show but a small example of Peter’s work over the past three decades but the range and quality of his abilities are there for all to see.
